Manaslu Expedition.
Manaslu (8156m) is the eighth highest mountain. I t was first climbed in 1956 by a Japanese expedition group. It is located about forty miles east of Annapurna. The namr Manslu comes from Sanskrit word manasa, meaning “intellect” or “ soul”, it is same root word as that for Manasarover, the holy lake near Mt. Kailash in Tibet. British considered Everest their mountain. Manaslu has always been a Japanese mountain. The mountain’s long ridges and valley glaciers offer feasible approaches from all directions, and it culminates in a peak that towers steeply above its surrounding landscape.
